A group of educators, and childcare providers form a consortium to exchange information on funding and employment opportunities in early child development. In addition to recruiting and training early childhood educators, the group works on legislative advocacy for the children of Los Angeles County.
The Child Development Consortium of Los Angeles (CDCLA) becomes a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation.
CDCLA partners with Los Angeles County. CDCLA opens their first early childhood education center at Los Angeles General Medical Center in Lincoln Heights. The center focus is on children between two and five years of age.
CDCLA expands to the San Fernando Valley, opening at the Olive View- UCLA Medical Center.
CDCLA adds an infant care program to better serve the community.
CDCLA- Bright Futures opens in South Central Los Angeles. CDCLA- Nueva Maravilla open in East LA.
CDCLA starts a Family Child Care Home Education Network, collaborating with licensed family child care providers to serve families with nontraditional work schedules and to expand options for infant care.
CDCLA- Hart Village opens in Canoga Park. CDCLA- Harbor Hills serving the South Bay area. CDCLA Olive View facilities is destroyed in the Sayre Fire. The center continues services during this time, operating out of a conference room in the hospital until new facilities opened in 2016.
CDCLA- Chinatown opens in 2014 serving Downtown Los Angeles. CDCLA-Discovery Time opens in 2014 serving the San Gabrial Valley.
CDCLA- Grace Iino opens in 2016 serving the Little Tokyo neighborhood.
CDCLA- Van Nuys opens in 2018 serving Van Nuys and the San Fernando Valley.
LA County opens the newly constructed center in Lincoln Heights. Supervisor Hilda Solis and first partner, Jennifer Siebel Newsom attend dedication and the ribbon cutting ceramony.
CDCLA continues to forge ahead with plans to provide much needed quality early childhood education to young children from all backgrounds and income levels throughout Los Angeles County.
